Tariffs and Trade Deals
The times are not like those I grew up in; hell, they aren't like those from a couple of months ago. I promised that I'd post an update as soon as possible, and here's that update. While an international location of writers and readers is always appreciated, please note that some changes will need to be made and that is because the current President of the United States is actively trying to undermine small businesses. Most of my supplies, at least as local publishing is concerned, are in the United States of America, and payments to authors are electronic and (so far) not restricted.
That may change. So far, at least up to the time of writing this post, my distribution partners have not informed me of any changes. However, that doesn't mean changes won't occur. International buyers are likely to see dramatic price hikes if buying a physical product from the United States (so far, digital products aren't falling under that same scrutiny). Likewise, it's impractical for me to send anything internationally as the costs are downright insane. Donald Trump has ensured that the Chinese market will be hardest hit, and China, understandably, is defending itself; hopefully, the tariffs will come down eventually, and we can resume business as normal.
So, yes, M Presents will work with international writers if authors choose, and I will keep both authors and readers apprised of any changes that come my way. I do anticipate more restrictions but only time will tell what, if any, those may be. I hope cooler heads will prevail, but I don't anticipate that for a few years.
