His essay on Lovecraft won the University of Chichester’s “Thresholds” Award, and last year he was one of the judges for the British Fantasy Society Awards. He frequently gives talks and readings, with subjects ranging from the Loch Ness Monster to fairies, witchcraft, Scottish cannibalism, bodysnatching and vampires.
He is a member of the Society of Authors, the Writers Guild of Great Britain and the Folklore Society. He is Welsh, lived in Scotland for many years, and currently calls home a 300-year-old allegedly haunted house in deepest France.
