Currently completing a PhD in Creative Writing with a focus on contemporary horror and folklore, he is also developing his first short story collection. His writing blends quiet, atmospheric tension with moments of surreal or cosmic unease, influenced by writers such as Lovecraft, Kafka, and Carver.
Living in Cumbria, England, Butler finds inspiration in the region’s weathered towns, rolling hills, and isolated lakes—landscapes that often seep into his narratives as liminal spaces where the uncanny can emerge. When not writing, he enjoys exploring local history, reading speculative fiction, and listening to vinyl records, finding connections between music, memory, and the strange.
